Holt's Hounds is a doggy day care and dog hotel in Dumfries. I have always had a love for dogs and I'm now getting to turn that into my job! I have had dogs my whole life, trained in canine first aid and CPR, animal psychology and I'm a qualified dog groomer (not currently taking new grooming clients). I aim for day care and boarding to be fun and stimulation your dog, this is because mental stimulation is just as important as physical exercise. I provide trusted, council licensed dog day care from my home in the Dumfries area. There are outdoor and indoor play zones so all pups can avoid the Scottish weather! Dogs are my passion, so you can trust me to care for your dog as if it were my own.
DOG BOARDING
Whether you're away for 2 days or 2 weeks
Dog boarding is in an indoor kennel, only 4 metres away from where I sleep and I try to create a home away from home feel for your dog. Better yet, if your dog is socialised and house trained, they'll have free run of the house with my dog, only using the kennel to sleep.

I have been very fortunate that I get to turn a passion I have had my whole life into a career. I grew up with family dogs such as springer spaniels and golden retrievers, and always had a passion for animals of all shapes and sizes. Nine years ago I got my own black Labrador names Gambit and he changed my whole life. Being a dog owner drove me to learn as much as I could so I knew I was always doing what was best for him and so I could understand him better.
I have had a medical background, I was a nurse for 18 years. So when I came to changing my career, a surprising number of skills could be transferred, from understanding CPR or completing first aid courses for dogs. But the most important skill was only using evidence based practice and being able to justify your choices when it comes to delivering the best care and service to the dogs that come to Holt's Hounds. I registered with a local governing body to give people peace of mind that my standards are always high. Whether a dog is coming in to day care or is staying overnight, my goals are always the same: safe, fun and respect.
